On Wednesday, Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum announced a significant new oil discovery in the Western Desert, marking another milestone in the country’s ongoing efforts to bolster its energy sector.

The announcement detailed the find at the West Fayoum-1 exploration well, located in the Kalabsha development area.

According to the Ministry's statement, initial testing of the well yielded a production rate of 7,165 barrels of oil per day, with a high-quality crude grade of 44 degrees API, alongside 23 million cubic feet of associated natural gas.

This discovery underscores the Western Desert’s potential as a key contributor to Egypt’s oil output.

The region has been a focal point of exploration and development activities, with numerous international and domestic companies operating in the area. The Ministry’s announcement signals continued optimism about the region's capacity to significantly enhance Egypt’s oil and gas reserves.
