On Thursday, Egyptian Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hanafy El Gebaly, met with Ms. Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairwoman of the Senate of Uzbekistan.

This comes on the sidelines of the 150th General Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), currently being held in the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Dr. El Gebaly began the meeting by congratulating his Uzbek counterpart on the successful organization and hosting of the IPU’s 150th session, commending Uzbekistan’s efforts to ensure the success of this important international event.

On the bilateral front, the Egyptian Speaker praised the growing momentum in Egypt-Uzbekistan relations, driven by the shared commitment of both countries’ leaderships to strengthen cooperation and continuous coordination in the service of their peoples.

Parliamentary cooperation was a central theme of the talks. Dr. El Gebaly expressed appreciation for the strong parliamentary ties between Egypt and Uzbekistan, describing them as a natural reflection of the countries’ long-standing historical and diplomatic relations. He voiced support for further activating the Egypt-Uzbekistan Parliamentary Friendship Association, promoting legislative knowledge exchange, and enhancing coordination in regional and international parliamentary forums.

For her part, Ms. Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairwoman of the Uzbek Senate, welcomed Egypt’s high-level parliamentary participation in the IPU meetings and emphasized the significance of Egypt as a “brotherly and friendly nation.” She noted the sincere will of both countries’ leaders to elevate their bilateral relations to broader horizons across all domains.

She also underscored the importance of advancing inter-parliamentary cooperation, which she described as a vital tool for supporting the wider diplomatic and developmental relations between Egypt and Uzbekistan.
