Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty engaged in comprehensive political consultations with his Congolese counterpart, Thérèse Fagner, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Francophonie of the Democratic Republic of Congo, during his visit to Kinshasa on Thursday. The discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation in key areas such as trade, investment, and regional stability while addressing shared international concerns.
The talks reflect the historical bond between Egypt and the Democratic Republic of Congo, reaffirming their commitment to mutual respect and collaboration. Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ambassador Tamim Khalaf highlighted that Minister Abdelatty's visit underscores Egypt’s dedication to strengthening bilateral relations, building on a foundation of solidarity and shared goals.
The meeting followed a recent phone call between Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Congolese President Félix Tshisekedi on November 12. Both leaders shared a vision for deeper cooperation in various fields, aligning with Egypt’s broader strategy to enhance its ties with African nations.
The consultations covered ways to expand trade and investment opportunities, with Egypt aiming to play a larger role in sub-Saharan Africa’s economic development. Particular attention was given to joint projects in water management, energy, and agriculture—areas where Egyptian expertise could significantly benefit the Democratic Republic of Congo’s growth.
