Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said Egypt has agreed to acquire 16 Airbus A350-900 aircraft over the coming years, describing the move as a major step in modernizing the country’s aviation sector.

Speaking from in front of EgyptAir’s first Airbus A350-900, Madbouly expressed his satisfaction with the aircraft’s entry into the fleet of EgyptAir, calling it part of a broader vision to upgrade national aviation capabilities.

The prime minister said developing the aviation sector is a personal priority, noting that air transport represents an important element of Egypt’s soft power and a key driver for increasing tourism. He stressed that improving the national carrier, enhancing airport services, and upgrading overall travel quality are essential steps toward Egypt’s target of attracting 30 million tourists annually.

Madbouly also revealed that Egypt has signed an agreement with the International Finance Corporation to move forward with plans to offer the management and operation of Egyptian airports to specialized international operators, as part of a wider reform and modernization program.

Egypt’s Minister of Civil Aviation Samah El-Hefny said the addition of the A350-900 marks a qualitative shift in EgyptAir’s fleet renewal strategy. He emphasized that the aircraft will significantly enhance the airline’s ability to deliver high-quality services to passengers.

El-Hefny added that the move aligns with the state’s broader plan to develop civil aviation infrastructure and strengthen Egypt’s position as a leading regional hub for air transport.
