Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced that Burullus Gas Company has successfully brought two new wells in the deepwater West Delta region of the Mediterranean Sea online, adding a combined production of 60 million cubic feet of gas per day.
The Sapphire South Central DP well, the third well in Phase 11 of the West Delta Deep Marine project, began production at 50 million cubic feet of gas per day, along with 800 barrels of condensates, equivalent to roughly 9,400 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
Meanwhile, the company managed to restore the Scarab D4 well to production after a long shutdown, contributing an additional 10 million cubic feet of gas per day, equivalent to about 1,700 barrels of oil equivalent per day.
The Ministry said the new additions reflect the sector’s commitment to maximizing local production, strengthening energy security, and meeting rising domestic demand. The West Delta Deep Marine concession remains one of Egypt’s most strategic offshore gas projects, helping sustain the country’s position as a regional energy hub.
