Twenty Four people were killed and six others were injured when a bus loaded with passengers overturned A canal in Dakahlia Governorate, northern Egypt as a result of wrong skipping and a defective steering wheel.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health in Dakahlia, Sherif Makin, told "Sky News Arabia", that 5 new bodies were recovered, which were washed away by the water currents away from the site of the accident, which raises the death toll to 24.
An eyewitness named Muhammad Abdel-Sattar, an employee from the village of Mansha’at Abd al-Nabi in the Aga Center in Dakahlia told the news agency that the accident occurred when the bus driver tried to overtake cars in front of him and was surprised by the cars coming from the opposite side, so the steering wheel veered from him and his bus fell into the wind canal.
According to the eyewitness, the accident occurred on Mit Ghamr Road, Mansoura, the bus was carrying workers and employees to work in the city of Mansoura. The accident occurred in front of the Aja Exchange station.
Rescue teams are still combing the water in search of other victims, as there is a possibility that the stream of water washed other bodies away from the scene of the accident.
Ambulances and river rescue vehicles rushed to the scene, and a number of citizens were rescued from the bus passengers.
The forces are intensifying their efforts to ensure that no one is in the canal water, a report has been issued on the incident, and the Public Prosecution has taken over the investigation.
