The Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES) 2025, the leading energy platform in North Africa and the Mediterranean, launched with a grand inauguration by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides. Their presence highlighted the event’s significance in fostering regional collaboration, investment, and technological innovation to ensure a secure and sustainable energy future.

On the second day, Egypt’s Prime Minister, Mostafa Madbouly, led the EGYPES Leadership Circle Roundtable, bringing together top government officials including Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Environment Dr. Yasmine Fouad, and Minister of Finance Ahmed Kouchouk. The discussions emphasized Egypt’s vision for sustainable energy development, balancing low-carbon oil and gas production with renewable energy investments in hydrogen, power generation, and energy efficiency.

Energy security, sustainability, and affordability were key themes at the Strategic Conference, where global industry leaders discussed the impact of geopolitical instability, trade corridors, and decarbonization. Siemens Energy AG Executive Board Member Karim Amin highlighted the energy trilemma, stating that securing affordable and sustainable energy remains a critical challenge. Scatec CEO Terje Pilskog pointed to the falling costs of solar panels and battery storage, making renewables more accessible than ever.

In discussions on regional trade and energy corridors, DESFA CEO Maria Rita Galli emphasized EGYPES’ role in fostering Mediterranean partnerships, while Höegh Evi President Erik Nyheim described Egypt’s strategic advantage due to its geographic location, abundant resources, and integration with global markets.

The Sustainability in Energy Conference brought together climate and energy experts to drive decarbonization efforts and meet global sustainability targets by 2030. Minister of Environment Dr. Yasmine Fouad detailed Egypt’s climate progress, revealing that the country had already achieved a 34% reduction in annual renewable energy targets, exceeding initial goals under the Paris Climate Agreement.

The African Dialogue Conference addressed energy security challenges and the importance of regional cooperation between North and Sub-Saharan Africa. APPO Secretary-General Dr. Omar Farouk Ibrahim stressed the need for cross-regional collaboration, while ARDA Executive Secretary Anibor Kragha highlighted the balance between energy security and affordability. The session on Africa’s natural gas potential saw key industry leaders, including Saipem CCO Guido D’Aloisio and Shell VP Suzanne Coogan, emphasize the role of LNG and clean energy in economic growth and industrialization.

The EGYPES 2025 Exhibition, featuring over 500 companies from 120 countries, showcased groundbreaking innovations in energy technology. The Start-Up Zone provided a platform for emerging innovators, while Shell’s NXplorers Challenge highlighted youth-led sustainability initiatives. The Young Professionals Programme continued to empower the next generation of energy leaders, offering networking and mentorship opportunities.

The EGYPES 2025 Gala Dinner and Energy Awards celebrated industry excellence, recognizing pioneering projects and leaders across four key categories: Best Breakthrough Project of the Year, Best Health & Safety Project, Operational Excellence Project, and Young Energy Professional of the Year. Winners included PETROBEL, BAPETCO, TotalEnergies, BP, and outstanding young professionals shaping the future of the sector.

EGYPES 2025 reaffirms its global leadership in energy transformation, investment, and collaboration. By bringing together governments, industry leaders, and innovators, the event continues to drive regional and international cooperation in building a secure and sustainable energy future.
