The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) has applied for a nomination from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to host the 2021 CAF Champions League final.

According to a statement by the EFA, the Egyptian federation also submitted a request for a nomination to host the African Cup of Nations for Youth U-20, scheduled to be held in 2023, and qualifies for the World Youth Cup to be held in Indonesia in the same year.

The Egyptian Federation is expected to complete the rest of the nomination conditions, among which are government approvals, in case CAF approves the candidacy application.

Egypt's Al Ahly SC and Zamalek SC participate in the group stage of the CAF Champions League, as the defending champion Al Ahly are in Group A, along with the Sudanese Al-Merrikh, Congolese Vita Club and Tanzanian Simba, while Zamalek are in Group D, which includes Tunisian Esperance and Mouloudia of Algeria and Senegalese Teungueth.
