Officials reported that a magnitude 7.8 earthquake that occurred on Monday in Turkey and Syria resulted in more than 29,000 fatalities and tens of thousands of injuries.

On Sunday, there were 24,617 fatalities in Turkey while more than 4,500 people died in Syria.

At least 24,617 people have died as a result of the terrible earthquakes that slammed southeastern Turkey, according to Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) of Turkey had earlier reported that 80,278 individuals had been hurt.

According to the UN, up to 5.3 million Syrians may now be homeless as a result of the earthquakes, and approximately 900,000 people in Turkey and Syria urgently require access to hot food.

Even days after the earthquake, workers in Turkey are still attempting to extricate lives from the rubble, and there have been remarkable instances of survival and rescue.

Turkey's southeast-most region of Kahramanmaras saw powerful 7.7 and 7.6-magnitude earthquakes on Monday. The tremors, which were followed by hundreds of aftershocks, were felt in ten provinces as well as in other nations, with Syria being the most severely affected.
