The Kuwait National Guard announced on Saturday that it had shot down a drone in one of the areas where it provides operational support to the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense.

According to a statement cited by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the action was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen national security, protect vital sites, and respond to potential threats.

Authorities said the interception reflects the country’s heightened alert measures aimed at safeguarding strategic facilities amid rising regional tensions.

In a related development, Kuwait Airways announced earlier that it has begun operating flights from several capitals to Saudi Arabia to facilitate the return of Kuwaiti citizens to their homeland by land.

The airline said in an official statement that the step forms part of emergency measures designed to ensure the safety of citizens and ease their return to Kuwait.

Kuwait Airways added that all flights are being carried out under strict safety and security standards as authorities continue to monitor developments in the region.
