The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) launched drones targeting a fuel depot and a power plant in the city of Atbara, River Nile State, Sudan, resulting in a power outage across large areas.
The RSF is intensifying its attacks on cities in northern Sudan, following threats made by the deputy commander of the RSF, Abdel Rahim Dagalo, to invade the Northern and River Nile states.
Eyewitnesses reported that drones targeted petroleum storage sites west of the industrial area in Atbara, River Nile State, for the second time in less than a week, destroying one of the warehouses, according to Sudanese media.
They indicated that another drone attack targeted the Atbara Electricity Company simultaneously with the attack on the petroleum depot.
For its part, the Sudan Electricity Company's Media Coordination Council stated that the Atbara power station was attacked by drones, resulting in direct hits on transformers feeding the River Nile and Red Sea states, leading to a power outage in both states.
