The Arab Women Investors Union (AWIU) is playing a pivotal role in fostering intra-Arab investment and achieving sustainable economic and social development, according to its chair, Dr. Hoda Yassa.
Yassa, also a member of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs, emphasized that the AWIU's integrated vision focuses on lasting solutions rather than temporary aid or unsustainable support.
The AWIU operates with two complementary wings: an economic wing that focuses on supporting joint investments and Arab/international trade exchange, and a social wing aimed at achieving genuine economic empowerment, especially for women, through sustainable production projects, Yassa said in an interview with See.
Yassa highlighted the execution of more than 350 developmental projects in the governorates of Upper Egypt (South Sinai). These initiatives provided tools of production, training, and marketing instead of direct cash support, successfully transforming beneficiaries into small business owners capable of managing their projects independently.
On the economic front, Yassa noted that the union annually organizes the Arab-African Investment and International Cooperation Summit, which concluded its 28th session this year. The summit resulted in the signing of approximately 180 cooperation protocols across various fields, including industry, petrochemicals, infrastructure, and trade exchange.
Yassa also announced that the Arab Women Investors Union was selected as the representative for the Arab Republic of Egypt in the “BRICS Alliance.” She confirmed that the union's international participation focuses on promoting investment opportunities, particularly in the industrial and tourism sectors, which are considered crucial drivers for sustainable economic development.
Praising the AWIU's role in supporting popular diplomacy and strengthening economic relations between nations, Yassa affirmed that the language of shared interests is an effective tool for supporting stability and development. She added that the union is dedicated to supporting vulnerable groups and people with disabilities, alongside plans to expand the use of media tools and digital platforms in the near future to enhance communication and highlight real-world success stories.
