Qatar has ordered the Iranian military and security attachés at its embassy in Doha to leave the country within 24 hours, in a move signaling a sharp escalation in diplomatic tensions between the two sides.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the decision applies to both attachés and all staff working within the military and security sections of the Iranian mission. Authorities confirmed that those affected must depart within the specified deadline.
Doha also announced that the diplomats have been declared persona non grata, reflecting a significant deterioration in relations.
The decision follows a security incident in which Qatar reported being targeted by five ballistic missiles. The Ministry of Defense stated that air defense systems successfully intercepted four of the missiles, while the fifth struck the Ras Laffan Industrial City, causing a fire at the site.
Emergency teams were immediately deployed to contain the fire and manage the aftermath of the strike, according to officials.
