Distance Yourself to Save Loved Ones

The shocking news we received during the past two days, made me feel that I have to distance myself to save my loved ones…I don’t want to cause panic... I just want to take part in the warning campaign.. we all have to follow World Health Organization instructions including, isolation and home-quarantine.

The first terrifying piece of news is what has been published by CNN website claiming that coronavirus can be spread not just by sneezes or coughs, but also just by talking, or possibly even just breathing, according to a research conducted by a hospital in China.

The research shows that the virus can be suspended in the air when doctors and nurses remove protective gear, or when floors are cleaned, or when staff moves around, and it is possible that aerosolized coronavirus droplets can hang in the air and potentially infect someone who walks by later.

Hence, this may be a justification for increasing the massive infections across the world despite the commitment to the WHO instructions.

The second is the infection of at least 17 doctors and nurses at Egypt’s National Cancer Institute (NCI) with the coronavirus, despite being strictly adhering to instructions... who knows how many patients at NCI have been infected... it is known that oncology patients have weak immunity and they can easily catch any disease.

Last but not least, the news related to popular markets in the villages that are still being held with intense crowds, as well as family and friends gatherings .. some people still do not take the issue seriously.

I agreed with our great icon, Sabri Ghoneim, to carry out media campaigns to honor our white army of doctors, nursing staff, who risk their lives and the lives of their families to protect us and treat dreaded virus patients.

We are living a difficult stage, but the widespread of the disease has to make us cautious, hence, state-owned media are launching a number of awareness campaigns... another campaign should be launched to explain the psychological effects of staying at home and how to face this isolation, through optimism and hope...Staying at home is the only solution and the successful treatment so far to avoid infection.

We are facing a ruthless enemy, a dangerous epidemic that is sweeping the whole world, and Egypt's leadership and government are countering it with the utmost professionalism...President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi closely follows up the situation and takes swift brave and tough measures to protect the people.

Egyptians have to understand that we are facing a difficult week, whether to be or not to be... we should be a responsible nation that adheres to the instructions of the health ministry and WHO in order not to see a crazy rise in the infections from the disease.. and its devastating effects on human life in the most advanced and powerful countries in terms of health capabilities and systems.

Those who are following up on the infections and death rates in the US, Spain, England, Germany, Italy, and all European countries will discover that the most successful weapon against the virus and the strongest immune system so is social distancing and isolation.

We have to distance ourselves to protect our loved ones...
