Diesel prices in Germany climbed sharply in recent days, nearing record levels as escalating tensions linked to the Iran War March 2026 continue to disrupt global energy markets.

According to data from the ADAC, the average price of diesel rose by more than 12 euro cents in just two days, reaching approximately €2.291 per liter nationwide on Friday, just three cents below the all-time high recorded four years ago following the Russia Ukraine War 2022.

Gasoline prices are also increasing, with E10 premium fuel climbing by about 4.2 cents since Wednesday to €2.086 per liter.

Overall, diesel prices are now roughly 54.5 cents higher than levels seen before the latest conflict involving the United States, Israel, and Iran. Gasoline prices have risen by approximately 30.8 cents over the same period.

The increase is largely driven by disruptions in global energy supply chains, particularly constraints on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.

As oil flows tighten and transportation costs rise, European fuel markets are feeling the direct impact.

Higher diesel prices are especially significant for Germany’s economy, as they directly affect transportation, logistics, and industrial production costs.

With no immediate resolution to the geopolitical crisis in sight, analysts warn that fuel prices could remain elevated, adding to inflationary pressures and weighing on both consumers and businesses.
