Denmark has announced an extension of stringent border control measures that have been in place for months.

This decision comes in the wake of the burning of copies of the Quran in both Denmark and neighboring Sweden. The Danish police stated that due to the increasing current threats, they will temporarily intensify their efforts at the borders.

This marks the second time that the enhanced border control measures have been extended since their implementation on August 3rd.

Denmark has followed in the footsteps of Sweden, which also heightened security measures following disturbances in several Islamic countries in response to the desecration of the Quran in these two kingdoms.

The Danish police clarified that the intensified border efforts are a security measure aimed at preventing the entry of individuals who pose a threat to the country's security.

These control measures are implemented randomly at the borders of Sweden and Germany. According to the new decision, they will remain in effect until August 22nd.

Both Scandinavian countries are considering ways to curb events that involve the burning of the Quran while respecting freedom of expression.
