Report: ‘Decent Life’ Encourages Societal Participation, Receives Donations

The National Program for the Development of the Egyptian Countryside within the new phase of the presidential initiative "A Decent Life" is one of the most important national presidential initiatives that touches the lives of millions.

The “A Decent Life’ initiative seeks to raise the quality of life in the Egyptian countryside by implementing thousands of projects in various fields such as education, health and sanitation, and providing millions of job opportunities for youth in rural areas.

The program receives donations by sending an SMS to 9509, at a cost of 5 pounds per message, to encourage citizens to participate in the national initiative "A Decent Life.”

The Ministry of Local Development stressed the start of implementation in the 51 targeted centers, representing 100% of the geographical scope, where the actual implementation of 1,136 projects in 609 villages, which follow the scope of 267 local units, covers about 84% of the total targeted local units in the listed centers (317 local units).

The Ministry noted that most of the projects that have actually been implemented on the ground are concentrated in the sectors of sanitation and education, and the current projects have been pided into 656 new projects that have been implemented from January 2021, in addition to the completion of 480 projects.

The Ministry of Local Development affirmed that education projects are at the forefront of the total projects that have entered into force (387 ongoing projects, including 189 new projects and 198 "completion" projects, followed by sanitation projects with a total of 385 projects, including 248 new projects that started from January 2021 or later.

A Decent Life initiative seeks to provide an integrated package of services, which includes various aspects of health, social, and living, to achieve comprehensive development of all the required interventions for infrastructure and facilities in different sectors, namely:

1. Roads and transportation

2. Sanitation and drinking water

3. Electricity and public lighting

4. Natural gas

5. Development of local units

6. Youth and sports

7. Health and educational services

8. Various social interventions
