The Pentagon announced that the US intelligence services considered the drone “of Iranian origin.”
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that, under the direction of President Joe Biden, he authorized “the US Central Command forces to launch accurate air strikes tonight in eastern Syria against facilities used by groups affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.”
The American strikes, according to the Syrian Observatory, targeted several locations in eastern Syria, most notably a weapons depot of pro-Iranian groups inside the city of Deir ez-Zor, which led to its complete destruction.
The bombing also targeted sites in the desert of the city of Al-Mayadeen and the countryside of Al-Bukamal
