In implementation of the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for achieving the Egyptian state’s vision of digital transformation to digitize the services provided to citizens , Dr. Enas Abdel-Dayem, Minister of Culture, followed up the preparations for launching the digital platform for 52nd edition of Cairo International Book Fair. The meeting was attended by Dr. Haitham El-Hajj Ali, head of the Egyptian General Book Authority and his deputy, Dr. Ahmed Bahey El-Din.
It is worthy of note that the 52nd edition of Cairo International Book Fair will be held ,from 30 June to 15 July, in Egypt Center for International Conferences and Exhibitions. It is scheduled to be activated during the press conference that will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, 22 June, at Al-Manara Center, to announce its details.
Abdel Dayem said that the development of a digital platform for the 52nd edition of Cairo International Book Fair comes within the framework of the Egyptian state's strategy for digital transformation, and the platform is a rich addition to the work system as a qualitative addition to the cultural services provided to the public. She indicated that the platform includes all the details and services offered to the visitors of the fair, such as : the possibility searching for books for specified participating publishing houses, knowing the agenda of the activities and events that will take place virtually -online, the fair map, the virtual tour inside the fair halls. She stressed that it is a real start on the way to develop the cultural service as a step to transform Egypt to the digital Egypt.
In the same context, The Minister of Culture directed to form a permanent operating room for the fair, provide technical support service, and “online” customer service on the platform and on the WhatsApp application. Plus, she stressed on the need to make it easy for the visitors this year, considering it an exceptional edition. In addition to allocating a special and fast path for the elderly people and the people with special abilities , allowing them to enter all gates with their companions’ to make it easy for them , applying all the precautionary measures to preserve the public health, including: wearing a medical mask, measuring the temperature, sterilization gates and the safe spacing distances.
Dr. Haitham El-Hajj, head of the Egyptian General Book Authority, reviewed with the "United Printing, Publishing and Information Technology" company – which implements the digital platform - the digital content, the registration steps, the method of opening the website www.cairobookfair.gebo.gov. eg , the search engine on “Google” and obtaining a visit ticket - a copy of the ticket will be sent in a text message on WhatsApp .
