Egypt's Prime Minister (PM) Moustafa Madbouly has warned Egyptians against the expected rise in COVID-19 infections during the holy month of Ramadan.
In press statements, the primer stressed that everyone should adhere to precautionary measures, to ensure the safety of the entire society.
On Tuesday, Egypt reported 648 new coronavirus cases, bringing total infections since last year to 196709.
In its daily briefing, the health ministry also reported 43 deaths to bring the death toll since the outbreak to 11680.
It added that 500 patients have been discharged from hospitals following recovery, bringing recoveries to 150924.
Egypt began vaccinating priority groups earlier in March under a wider rollout of the vaccination program after it concluded the vaccination of the country’s medical staff in the past few weeks.
It has now opened registration for all citizens who are 18 and older.
