North Korea has deployed about 500 workers to the country's borders with China, in the latest move to prevent the new “coronavirus” from entering its territory.

The South Korean Yonhap News Agency referred to a report issued by the International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) and Red Crescent Societies that the N. Korea Red Cross has recently dispatched volunteers to help with quarantine operations on the border at the request of the government.

North Korea is stepping up its efforts to prevent the entry of the new virus, which originated in central China's Wuhan and has been sweeping the whole world.

Pyongyang has recently launched a national emergency system against Coronavirus virus, as well as strengthening border controls and quarantine efforts against Chinese arrivals.

No confirmed infection cases have been detected so far.

Chinese authorities said, on Tuesday, that the death toll from the new Coronavirus has risen to 974.

The authorities added that the total number of infection cases in the country has risen to 40171.

It is worth mentioning that, last Friday, Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed that his country is “fully capable” of eradicating the new coronavirus, while China‘s economy will not be affected by this deadly virus.

According to official media reports, the Chinese President told US President Donald Trump on the phone, that his country’s economy is capable of facing the developments.

Xi also told Trump that China is “fully confident and able to defeat” the virus, according to Chinese state television.
