Coronavirus in Egypt: 28 Released from Quarantine, 40 Tested Negative

The Spokesman of the Health Ministry Dr. Khaled Megahed revealed late Wednesday that 28 infected persons with the novel coronavirus, known as COVID-19, were totally treated and recovered.

“The total number of the infected persons across Egypt with the coronavirus is 210, with a number of 28 fully recovered cases,” Megahed added.

In phone statements to anchor Ahmed Mousa on Sada al-Balad satellite channel, the Health Ministry spokesperson manifested that fourteen new COVID-19 were discovered, while 40 persons tested negative after receiving medical treatment at the quarantine hospital in Alexandria.

Last week, the government started adopting the second scenario which included the closure of schools and universities for two weeks and the suspension of all air flights coming to Egypt.

On Monday, the Ministry of Health and Population announced the registration of 40 new cases that proved positive for its new coronavirus (Covid-19), bringing the number of infected people to 166, in addition to recording two new deaths.

On March 11, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared that the coronavirus, which is spreading around the world, a “global pandemic; however it announced the novel COVID-19 is still “controllable”.

More cases of the virus, which causes respiratory disease Covid-19, continue to emerge, with outbreaks in South Korea, Italy, and Iran.

Transmission of viruses between humans happens when someone comes into contact with an infected person’s secretions, such as droplets in a cough. They can also be transmitted by coming into contact with something an infected person has touched and then touching your mouth, nose or eyes.
