On Thursday, Egypt’s Health Ministry reported 870 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total up to 351,267.

The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 19,991 nationwide after the ministry announced 58 deaths.

About 675 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising the total number of fully-recovered cases to 292,655.

Egypt has vaccinated about 40 million citizens against the deadly virus.

On November 14, the Egyptian Drug Authority (EDA) announced the start of clinical trials for CoviVacc, the country’s first coronavirus vaccine.

The authority confirmed that the vaccine is a fruitful outcome of cooperation between the National Research Center and Vaccine Valley Company.

While the daily tallies exceed 900 infections, Health Affairs Presidential Advisor Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din, stated that the fourth wave of coronavirus in the country has yet to reach its peak.

In televised remarks, he added that the number of daily infections of the virus is not stable yet.
