Johns Hopkins University announced on Monday that more than 435.2 million people were infected with Coronavirus worldwide.
On Sunday, Egypt’s Health Ministry reported 1521 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total up to 482,248.
The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 24,040 nationwide after the ministry announced 48 deaths.
About 1213 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising the total number of fully-recovered cases to 412,161.
The recent spike in infections comes as Egypt continues to push ahead with efforts to expand its vaccination campaign to vaccinate 70% of the population by the second half of 2022.
In recent weeks, Egypt has implemented new preventive measures at airports, seaports, and land crossings to control the surge in coronavirus cases.
Egypt has managed so far to vaccinate around 40.2% of people against the Coronavirus, according to health officials.
