Johns Hopkins University announced on Sunday that more than 279.4 million people were infected with Coronavirus worldwide.
On Saturday, Egypt’s Health Ministry reported 866 new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s total up to 380,520.
The total number of COVID-19-related deaths has now reached 21,571 nationwide after the ministry announced 25 deaths.
About 760 patients were discharged from quarantine at isolation hospitals, raising the total number of fully-recovered cases to 316,656.
Noteworthy, Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population said in a post on its official page on “Facebook” that the Coronavirus vaccine is safe, effective, and stimulates the immune system to form antibodies that protect the body from the virus.
Egypt’s vaccination campaign began in January with priority groups and later expanded to university students. Registration for the jab is open to all.
Egypt has managed so far to vaccinate around 50 million people against the Coronavirus.
