Coptic Orthodox and Protestant worshippers began gathering at churches across Alexandria on Monday evening to attend the 2025 Christmas Mass. The celebrations are being held under stringent security and organizational measures.

Security forces have closed the streets leading to the historic St. Mark’s Church in Raml Station, setting up metal barriers to restrict vehicle access while allowing only pedestrians to pass. Scouts from the Patriarchate have been assisting church security personnel in managing entry to the premises.

His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, delegated Father Abram Emil, the Papal Deputy of the Orthodox Church, to lead the Christmas Eve liturgy at the St. Mark’s Cathedral, accompanied by the church's priests.

In parallel, Dr. Rady Attallah Iskander, pastor of the Evangelical Church in Alexandria, is leading the Christmas Mass at the Evangelical Church in Attarin on behalf of Reverend Dr. Andrea Zaki, President of the Evangelical Community. The service is being attended by a large congregation and clergy, with additional prayers scheduled for Tuesday, led by the church’s pastors.

Pastor Iskander highlighted that this year’s prayers focus on invoking peace for Egypt and the region, amidst unprecedented conflicts and tensions that threaten future stability. He emphasized the churches’ collective hope and prayer for God to protect Egypt, shield it from strife and conspiracies, and ensure its resilience and enduring strength.
