Violent clashes erupted along the southern Lebanese border on Monday as Israeli forces attempted several ground incursions into the area, triggering heavy fighting with Hezbollah fighters across multiple border sectors.

According to local reports, units from the Israeli army’s 36th Division tried to advance into several towns in southern Lebanon, particularly in the eastern and central sectors of the border region.

The attempted advances were concentrated around the towns of Khiam and Kfar Kila in the eastern sector, as well as Aita al-Shaab and Qawzah in the central sector. Additional attempts were reported near the border towns of Aitaroun and Adaisseh.

The clashes involved direct exchanges of machine-gun fire as well as indirect attacks, including rockets launched from Lebanese territory toward Israeli forces.

The fiercest fighting was reported in the early morning hours around the outskirts of Aitaroun and Adaisseh, where intense confrontations slowed Israeli movements inside Lebanese territory.

Reports indicated that Israeli forces were advancing only gradually due to the intensity of the clashes and continued resistance by Hezbollah fighters across several frontline positions along the border.

The developments come amid heightened military escalation along the Lebanon-Israel frontier, raising concerns of a broader confrontation in the region.
