Canadian officials have ordered the immediate evacuation of residents in Labrador and Newfoundland as wildfires edge dangerously close to the city limits.
The urgent directive comes amid growing concerns over uncontrolled wildfires threatening the safety of the population.
According to Radio Canada International on Saturday, the city's mayor, Belinda Adams, addressed the community in a video posted on social media, urging residents to pack their essentials and move east as quickly as possible.
The wildfires, which are currently out of control, are nearly 30 kilometers west of the city, near the Labrador-Quebec border. The fires have already spread over an area of about 6.6 square kilometers.
