Cairo International Film Festival announced today the final schedule of the 3rd Cairo Industry Days panels.
The sessions will feature prominent names from the Arab world and worldwide.
Kicking-off on 4 December, Cairo Industry Days' pannels will be initiated by “Mind My Gender: Being A Woman in The Creative Industry”. It will take place at the Cairo Opera House at 4:30 pm.
Moderated by the Head of Corporate Sustainability & Social Impact at MBC Group Mariam Farag, the session will feature the Innovation and Advocacy specialist at UN Women Emad Karim, executive producer Hend Radwan, the casting director Marwa Gabriel, the actress Jamila Awad, the singer Dina El Wedidi and head of Cairo Industry Days Aliaa Zaki.
On 5 December, Egyptian filmmaker Hala Galal will moderate a discussion under “Ethical Consciousness: Interrupting or Advancing the Artistic Process.” It will be organized at the Cairo Opera House at 2:30.
Sponsored by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the session will see the participation of director Ayten Amin, director Yosry Nasrallah, scriptwriter Dina Negm and Christina Rosendahl, a Danish film director.
Moreover, the Deputy Representative at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)-Egypt Germaine Haddad will take part in the event.
At 6 pm, a meeting with the team of the independent production company The Population. The Tale's producer Mynette Louie, Nomadland's producer Mollye Asher, and Housemaid's producer Derek Nguyen will be there.
The discussion will be moderated by María Raquel Bozzi who is the Senior Director of Education & International Initiatives at Film Independent. Film Independent is one of the main sponsors of the Cairo Industry Days.
Regarding the panels scheduled for 6 December, Screen International’s Middle East correspondent Melanie Goodfellow and six of her promising actors and directors from across the Middle East and North Africa will face the audience.
The participants were selected for the fourth edition of its talent-spotting initiative “Arab Stars Of Tomorrow”, which is being supported by MBC Hope, a social responsibility initiative for The MBC Group.
Ahmed Malek who is the recipient of “2017 Arab Stars of Tomorrow” will join the meeting.
On the same day, Mariam Farag, the Head of Corporate Sustainability & Social Impact at MBC Group, will moderate a panel entitled “The Role of Cinematography in Combating Human Trafficking” at 4.45 pm.
The discussion will be joined by Ambassador Chairperson of The National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons Naela Gabr, and Amb. Laurent De Boeck.
De Boek is the IOM Chief of Mission to the Arab Republic of Egypt and Cristina Albertin, and the Regional Representative for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
Celebrated Egyptian stars Asser Yassin and Nelly Karim will take part in the event.
The panel is sponsored by the National Coordinating Committee For Preventing And Combating Illegal Migration And Human Trafficking (NCCPIMTIP).
“The Creatives’ Advocate: The Business and Legal Principles of Filmmaking” is scheduled for 7 December. It will be held at 11:00 am at Cairo Marriott Hotel
It will bring together the legal counsel Ismat Abidi and Fiona Robertson, Senior Counsel and Head of Media at Al Tamimi & Company.
The final panel discussion is “Harder Than It Looks: The Art and Business of Making Short Films.”
It will be held at 1:00 PM at Cairo Marriott Hotel. It will be joined by director and producer May Odeh, writer Mark Lotf.
The upcoming edition of CIFF will take place between 2 and 10 December. The total of participated films is 84 films from 43 countries including 12 Red-Carpet film screenings.
