On Thursday, the Cairo International Film Festival (CIFF) announced the new dates of the 43rd edition and the names of the CIFF programming team.

The festival will kick off on November 26 instead of December 1, and it will be concluded on December 5, instead of December 10.

The decision to bring forward the 43rd edition came after a deep look at the international and Arab film festivals' agenda, with hope that the new dates will allow journalists and filmmakers to attend the various festivals and engage with the latest productions and cover the different events.

In the same context, the management of the CIFF has settled on the new formation of the festival's programming team for its 43rd edition with film critic Andrew Mohsen appointed as the director of the Artistic office.

Since 2016, Mohsen has taken several positions at CIFF, serving as a head programmer of the Cinema of Tomorrow Competition for short films for three editions. He also worked as Artistic Director of the Ismailia Festival for Documentary and Short films in 2018, and also as Artistic Director of the Aswan International Women’s Film Festival in 2020 and 2021.

The festival's artistic team will also include film critic Ramy Abdel Razek as director of the Horizons of Arab Cinema competition, Ossama Abdel Fattah as director of the International Critics Week competition, Marouan Omara as director of the Short Films competition, Maggie Morgan as a programmer for Eastern European films, Rasha Hosny as a programmer for Asia-Pacific films, and, Youssef Hisham as a programmer for North and South American films.

The festival will hold its 43rd edition, while ensuring that all the necessary safety precautions are taken and following guidelines from the Egyptian government and the World Health Organization to ensure safety for all, including the Festival’s team, participating filmmakers, and the audience.
