The 29th Cairo International Festival for Experimental and Contemporary Theater (CIFET) will kick off on September 1st which is the festival's internationally recognized date, media agencies reported on Tuesday.
The CIFET is an annual Egyptian festival organized by the Egyptian Ministry of Culture, and it targets bridging between several cultures and civilizations in the field of theatrical arts.
Moreover, it aims to bring the latest international theatrical trends to the Egyptian stage to build a general panorama for the history and the progression of theatrical performances locally, regionally, and internationally.
In recent years, Egypt introduced several arts festivals in the field of theatrical arts and stage performances such as the Cairo International Day of Monodrama.
Cairo International Days of Monodrama Festival selected Tunisia as the 4th edition’s guest of honor that took place last September.
Tunisia participated in the main competition of the festival by one troupe called Doroub, alongside several contributions in the festival’s several activities such as the Al Hakawati (The Storyteller) platform.
The 4th edition of the festival was directed by iconic director Osama Raouf.
It is worthy to mention that the previous edition carried the name of legendary actor Salah El Saadani, while, it selected Russia as the guest of honor for the third edition.
The shows of the 3rd edition were organized at the Al Hanager theater and cinema, Salah Jahin Hall at the Ballon Theater, and the Center of Artistic Creativity.
