Samreen Amir, a Christian woman, has assumed the role of the first female additional Station House Officer (SHO) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's merged districts.
This appointment marks a significant milestone in the province.
At 35 years of age, Amir has taken charge of the Women Police Reporting Center in Parachinar city, located in Kurram District.
Her appointment signals a positive step toward greater diversity and inclusivity in the police force.
Upon her posting, Amir expressed her gratitude, stating, "I thank God. I am very happy, and so is our Christian community."
She is determined to channel her efforts into addressing the challenges faced by women, highlighting her commitment to their well-being.
District Police Officer (DPO) Mohammad Imran emphasized the importance of women's empowerment in the erstwhile tribal districts.
He stated, "We will encourage and empower women who have been recruited [in police] to play their role in this regard."
