Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer XPeng has announced its ambitious goal to become the world's first company to launch mass production of flying cars by 2026.

CEO He Xiaopeng revealed that this initiative aligns with China's efforts to develop a "low-altitude economy," backed by government policies promoting aviation advancements.

China's latest economic and social development plan, set to run until the end of 2025, highlights the government's aim to expand the use of low-altitude aircraft while ensuring aviation safety and risk management.

XPeng's flying car features a unique modular design, allowing it to release a small aircraft capable of carrying two passengers once detached from the vehicle’s main body.

Wang Tan, Vice President of XPeng AeroHT, stated that the company plans to begin pre-sales of the XPeng AeroHT flying car by the end of 2025.

He explained that owners will be able to drive their vehicle to a suitable location, park, and then deploy the aircraft for flight.

The initial launch will focus on the Chinese market before expanding globally. The flying car is expected to be priced between 1 to 2 million yuan ($138,000–$276,000), with deliveries set to begin in the fourth quarter of 2025.
