On Tuesday, China's Foreign Minister Wang Yi said the country and Thailand have agreed to build an economic corridor linking the two countries through Laos, according to Bloomberg News.
Wang explained during a visit to Thailand today that the corridor will start from the Thai Eastern Economic Corridor through Laos and link China's Yunnan province, which will help transport goods to Europe.
After a meeting with his Thai counterpart Don Pramudwinai, the Chinese foreign minister added that the corridor will boost Thai agricultural exports to Chinese markets.
Wang mentioned that China aims to enhance logistics, trade, and investment to bring industrial development and economic benefits to the three countries.
The Chinese minister is scheduled to meet Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha later today.
Wang Yi is touring Southeast Asia from July 3 to 14.
