China has voiced deep concern over the rapidly deteriorating situation in the Middle East, warning that the escalating military conflict is severely damaging the global economy and threatening international energy security.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian stated on Tuesday that the intensification of hostilities has become a matter of "grave concern" for the international community. In a statement shared on social media, Lin emphasized that Beijing is actively working to facilitate a ceasefire and bring an end to the current conflict.

A Call for Ceasefire and Negotiation

"The top priority is an immediate cessation of military operations and a return to the path of dialogue and negotiation," Lin Jian said. He noted that China's diplomatic efforts are focused on addressing the "root causes" of the crisis to ensure long-term peace and stability in the Gulf region.

Energy and Economic Risks

Beijing’s concerns highlight the interconnected nature of the crisis. As a major global consumer of energy, China is particularly sensitive to disruptions in the Middle East, which often lead to volatility in oil prices and shipping logistics. The spokesperson reiterated that the current trajectory of the conflict is unsustainable and risks causing permanent harm to the global recovery.

The statement comes as other world powers and international organizations increase their calls for restraint, fearing a broader regional war that could involve major maritime chokepoints and critical infrastructure.
