China: Forces with Ulterior Motives Agitated Corona Protests

Today, China blamed "forces with ulterior motives" for linking a deadly fire in the Xinjiang region to the strict restrictions to combat the "COVID-19" pandemic, considering that this link is the main driver of the protests erupting in various parts of the country in recent days.

According to posts circulating on Chinese and foreign social networks, prolonged COVID-19 lockdowns in Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang province, impeded the arrival of firefighters after the fire broke out Thursday night.

And Al-Arabiya.net reported that, in response to a question about the disaster during a press conference, Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said: "On social networks, forces with ulterior motives link this fire to the local response to COVID-19."

The Chinese authorities eased restrictions to combat the Coronavirus in separate regions but emphasized the strict “zero Covid” strategy today.

And the Chinese authorities announced that they would not put gates to prevent access to residential complexes where COVID-19 cases were discovered.

These measures angered sectors of the Chinese, which led to a fire that resulted in deaths in the far west of the country, and Covid restrictions prevented it from being controlled promptly.
