China Calls on West to Rebuild Afghanistan

On Wednesday, Yue Xiaoying, China's special envoy to Afghanistan, urged the United States and NATO to participate in the reconstruction of Afghanistan.

"The United States and NATO countries, which have occupied Afghanistan for many years, must take responsibility and participate in its reconstruction," Xiao said, in a statement.

The statement came during Xiao's participation in a special meeting of envoys of twenty countries to Afghanistan, which was held in Qatar with the participation of the Secretary-General of the United Nations.

Participants in the two-day consultations in Qatar discussed the challenges facing Afghanistan in the humanitarian field, as well as ways to enhance stability in the country.

The US occupied Afghanistan in 2001, against the background of the events of September 11, in cooperation with its Western allies.
