Nearly 100 people were killed and 40 others injured a week ago in a dispute between gold miners in northern Chad, Chadian Defense Minister told AFP.
In a phone call, defense minister Daoud Yaya Brahim said that the clashes took place on May 24 in the Kouri Bougoudi district near the Libyan border, and it erupted after a "trivial argument between two people, and then it developed."
He added that clashes ensued between the miner, "leaving about 100 dead and at least 40 injured."
