Center for Translation Celebrates World Translation Day

The National Center for Translation, headed by Dr. Anwar Mogheeth, will celebrate today, 30th September, the World Translation Day.

The Center is organizing range of events including a seminar about Translation Policies at 6 pm.

The event will be attended Dr. Hisham Azmi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Culture, Mr. Said Abdo, Head of the Egyptian Publishers Association, Counselor Hossam Lotfy, Legal Adviser of the Publishers Union, Mr. Mohamed Rashad, Head of the Arab Publishers Association, Dr. Fatima Al Boudi, head of Al Ain Publishing and Distribution House.

The Center also offers 50% discounts on all publications to celebrate this day; it will also organize a selection of signing ceremonies at the headquarters outlet at 4:00 pm.

The signing ceremony of the Arabic version of the book "Da Vinci Heritage" will be attended by translator Nahed El Deeb.

At 4.30 pm, there will be a signing ceremony of the Arabic version of the book “The caves of Science” attended by translator Dr. Ahmed Hamdy Mustafa; the signing ceremony of the book "Juha al-Skali" will be attended by Dr. Hussein Mahmoud and Dr. Lamia Sharif.

At 5 pm, there will be the signing ceremony of the Arabic version of the book "Cinema And History" to be attended by the translator of the book Dr. Sahar Samir Youssef.

It is worthy of note that The World Translation Day is celebrated every year on 30 September coinciding with the anniversary of St. Jerome - a biblical translator, sponsored by the International Federation of Translators established in 1953.

In 1991, the Union launched the idea of celebrating the World Translation Day as an annual event to introduce the importance of translation and the pivot role of translators and their Importance in transferring knowledge and cultures between different civilizations.
