President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Monday General Kenneth F. McKenzie, Commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), in the presence of Lieutenant General Mohamed Farid, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, and US Ambassador in Cairo Jonathan Cohen.
Sisi welcomed the Commander of the Centcom on his visit to Egypt, and stressed the specificity of the established strategic relations between Egypt and the United States of America, according to Egyptian Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
"Sisi looked forward to the continued development of the existing bilateral cooperation in all fields, especially at the existing and extended military level between the two countries over the past decades, in a way that enhances the fruitful cooperation between Egypt and the United States in facing common challenges in the region," added Rady.
On his part, the Centcom Commander affirmed his keenness to continue the pace of coordination and joint consultation with Egypt regarding regional issues within the framework of the strength of the military relations between Egypt and the United States.
McKenzie affirmed that the US-Egypt relations are essential to face the current challenges that threaten the security and stability of the region, taking into account the pivotal and main Egyptian role in supporting peace and stability in its regional environment, especially the effective Egyptian efforts in the field of combating terrorism and extremist ideology.
Moreover, the meeting dealt with ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries on the military, security and counterterrorism levels, as well as joint training programs and exchange of experiences.
Views and visions on the latest developments on a number of issues at the regional level were reviewed, especially in the Middle East, the Horn of Africa and East the Mediterranea.
Sisi, Centcom's McKenzie agreed to continue regular bilateral consultations and coordination between the two friendly countries regarding these issues of common interest.
