Hassan Abdalla, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) held talks on Sunday with Sidi Ould Tah, President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) to explore ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding financing for development projects.

The meeting, held at the central bank’s headquarters in Cairo, marked the first official visit by Ould Tah to Egypt since assuming office in September 2025.

The discussions were attended by senior Egyptian banking officials, including Rami Abou El Naga, Deputy Governor for Monetary Stability, and Tarek El Khouly, Deputy Governor for Banking Stability, alongside other representatives from both sides.

The African Development Bank delegation included key leadership figures, notably Mohamed El Azizi, Director General for North Africa.

During the meeting, Abdalla highlighted the pivotal role played by the African Development Bank in supporting development projects across the continent and advancing sustainable development and regional economic integration.

He reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to expanding its partnership with the bank in the الفترة المقبلة, emphasizing continued coordination to support shared development goals and strengthen Africa-wide economic cooperation.

Talks focused on enhancing collaboration between Egypt and the African Development Bank, particularly in financing strategic development projects and supporting economic growth initiatives.

The discussions also addressed mechanisms to boost investment flows, strengthen financial stability, and support ongoing economic reform efforts across African economies.

The meeting aligns with directives from Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to deepen cooperation with African institutions and promote sustainable development across the continent.

Egypt maintains strong ties with the AfDB, ranking as the second-largest regional shareholder and the third-largest contributor overall.
