The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) announced on Sunday that all banks operating across the country will suspend operations in observance of the Eid al-Fitr holiday.
According to an official statement issued by the central bank, the holiday will begin on Thursday, and continue through Monday, March 23, during which banking services will be temporarily halted across the Egyptian banking sector.
The bank confirmed that normal operations at all financial institutions will resume on the morning of Tuesday, March 24.
The decision applies to all banks licensed and operating in Egypt, including major institutions such as Banque Misr and other public and private lenders within the country’s financial system.
The Central Bank’s announcement is part of the routine annual scheduling of banking holidays during major religious occasions, allowing employees in the financial sector to observe the holiday while ensuring that banking operations resume promptly after the festive period.
