Canada has firmly rejected recent calls from senior Israeli ministers to rebuild settlements in the Gaza Strip.
In a statement on Wednesday, Canada's Foreign Ministry expressed strong opposition to the provocative rhetoric, warning that it undermines the prospects for lasting peace in the region.
The statement emphasized that Ottawa is strongly against the reconstruction of Israeli settlements in Gaza, calling such actions harmful to peace efforts.
The Foreign Ministry said that these inciting statements undermine the chances for a lasting peace, adding that Canada stands with both Israelis and Palestinians in their right to live in peace, security, and dignity.
The rejection follows a controversial conference held on Monday by right-wing Israeli ministers near the Gaza border.
During the event, participants, including several Israeli ministers and Knesset members, called for the establishment of new settlements in the Gaza Strip.
