Canada has announced a development aid package worth $28.15 million for the Philippines to support its efforts in climate adaptation, disaster resilience, and improving healthcare services.
According to the Philippine newspaper, The PhilStar, part of this funding, amounting to $8 million, will be utilized by the Forest Foundation Philippines to aid vulnerable communities in mitigating the impacts of climate change and biodiversity loss.
Canadian Minister of International Development Ahmed Hussen stated that Elena International will carry out a project valued at $12.5 million aimed at enhancing climate adaptation capabilities in six vulnerable provinces in the Philippines.
He mentioned that his project will focus on building the capacities of national and local governments and women-led organizations in climate adaptation, disaster risk reduction, and management.
