Canadian Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland praised the ceasefire proposal in the Gaza Strip put forward by U.S. President Joe Biden last Friday, describing the proposal as a "significant step."

In response to a question from reporters in Toronto, Freeland said, "The proposal put forward by President Biden is an important step... Canada continues to call for a ceasefire, the return of detainees, and the urgent flow of humanitarian aid."

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said on the platform X (formerly known as Twitter): "Canada calls for an immediate ceasefire, an urgent increase in unobstructed humanitarian aid, and the release of all detainees... The proposal put forward by the U.S. President is an opportunity to end the suffering and return to the path of peace, and all parties should seize it."

Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly said, "The situation in Palestine is unhealthy, and Israel must stop the war immediately."
