The Canadian government's official travel site emphasized the need for heightened security caution in the Andean nation, pointing out the high rates of crime and sexual exploitation of minors, especially in Medellin, Antioquia province.
This warning follows the recent death of Salo Lloyd, a 60-year-old Canadian citizen, who was found dead in Medellin with a head injury on February 12.
The incident is currently under investigation.
