Canada has issued an official warning advising its citizens to avoid all travel to Iran and calling on Canadians currently in the country to leave immediately, citing heightened security risks and ongoing instability.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Canadian government said the travel warning was issued to protect the safety of Canadian nationals and reflects escalating risks inside Iran. Authorities pointed to persistent security concerns, including the continued crackdown on protests and ongoing human rights violations.
Canadian officials stressed that any Canadian citizen presently in Iran should make arrangements to depart the country as soon as possible. They also urged those affected to strictly follow security guidance issued by Canadian diplomatic missions to minimize risks and ensure personal safety.
Canada has previously expressed concern over the security environment in Iran, and the latest warning underscores Ottawa’s assessment that conditions have further deteriorated, increasing potential threats to foreign nationals.
