Hossam Salah, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Cairo University, has reaffirmed the public mission of Kasr Al-Ainy Hospital, dispelling speculation about privatization in the wake of ongoing modernization efforts. Founded in 1827, Kasr Al-Ainy has long been a pillar of healthcare in Egypt, known as "the people’s hospital." Dr. Salah emphasized that there are no plans to privatize the hospital, which remains dedicated to serving the public and improving healthcare accessibility.

The development project aims to create a modern, efficient environment for both patients and medical staff by aligning with international and Egyptian standards for hospital construction and healthcare services. "We are committed to providing high-quality healthcare in facilities that respect patient privacy and dignity," said Dr. Salah. He pointed out that the traditional practice of housing 22 beds in a single ward is no longer acceptable, as it undermines patient privacy, compromises the quality of care, and increases the risk of infections. Such conditions also extend patients’ hospital stays and violate basic safety standards.

Dr. Salah stressed that the goal of modernization is to ease the burden on patients while enabling medical staff to provide top-tier care. Faculty members and healthcare professionals are deeply committed to this mission, which aims to enhance patient experiences and streamline medical procedures in line with global best practices.

The hospital’s development reflects Cairo University’s broader vision of maintaining Kasr Al-Ainy as a beacon of public healthcare. By improving infrastructure and adhering to the highest standards of quality, the modernization ensures that the hospital remains accessible and continues to uphold its legacy of serving the Egyptian people.
