An informed source has denied circulating reports claiming that Egypt and Iran have decided to exchange ambassadors.
Speaking to the Middle East News Agency (MENA) on Sunday, the source stressed that no such decision has been taken between the two countries.
The source clarified that ongoing contacts between Cairo and Tehran fall within broader regional efforts aimed at reducing escalation and easing tensions across the Middle East, rather than signaling any immediate diplomatic upgrade.
The statement comes amid continued speculation about a potential thaw in relations between Egypt and Iran, which have maintained limited diplomatic engagement for decades. Egyptian officials have repeatedly indicated that any shift in the level of relations would depend on clear frameworks that safeguard regional stability and mutual interests.
