Busan was chosen to host the 2025 General Assembly of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) at the WADA Board of Directors Conference held in Cairo on Thursday.

This came after a fierce competition among the candidate cities, including the Finnish city of Tampere.

The victory of Busan came with overwhelming support from the members of the WADA Board of Directors.

Busan is the first Asian city to host the General Assembly of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), and the WADA General Assembly is the largest of its kind in international anti-doping efforts, and has been held 4 times in Europe and once in Africa so far.

Egypt’s hosting of this session of the WADA Board of Directors Conference at the Mena House Hotel in Cairo contributed to the advancement of Egypt’s diplomatic position in the field of sports through the skill of organizing the event and providing various facilities for the missions of the participating countries.

The program also included a wonderful dinner party at the Mohamed Ali Palace.

For his part, South Korean Ambassador Hong Jin Wook visited Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, Ashraf Sobhi, on Wednesday. He was accompanied by the Busan delegation.

During his visit, the two sides agreed to activate the exchange between the two brotherly countries in the field of youth and sports.

It is expected that this win for the Korean city of Busan to host the WADA General Assembly in the session held in Cairo is a good opportunity to strengthen the comprehensive partnership relationship between Korea and Egypt to extend to the field of sports.
